NAFISA NEZAM

Nafisa’s photography quest kicked off in 2019 after a life-changing visit to her mother’s homeland, Pakistan, where the land’s overlooked and seamless beauty still inspires her work today. Hosting visual storytelling and cinematic themes rooted in street and portrait photography, her work captures the essence of cultural depth and human connection. In more recent years, she has found her work shifting to cover more real-time historic movements whilst rediscovering the magic that is 35mm. Now, her lens documents local faces and places with an intimate, almost timeless quality, weaving together stories of geography and identity through both digital and analogue photography. Inspired by Ciesay-San’s gritty film realism and Peter Lindbergh’s emotive, unfiltered portraiture, Nafisa bridges documentary photography with an editorial sensibility, transforming fleeting moments into profound visual narratives.
